After decades of war and years of Taliban rule, pop culture is beginning to return to Afghanistan, and nowhere is it more obvious than on "Afghan Star," an "Idol"-style TV series. Voting for contestants has given millions of viewers their first experience with a democratic process. This documentary takes a dramatic turn when a female contestant causes an uproar and puts her life in danger by dancing onstage and letting her head scarf fall.

Liz (Tina Fey) keeps running into Wesley (Michael Sheen), causing her to question their decision. Tracy (Tracy Morgan) frets about his reputation when his children's former nanny writes a tell-all book. Jack (Alec Baldwin) takes steps to secure his position in the new cable company. Jack McBrayer, Scott Adsit and Judah Friedlander also star in the new episode "Don Geiss, America and Hope."

The Real Housewives of New York City BRAVO 10:00 pm ET

LuAnn and daughter Victoria commiserate over Kelly's decision to pose in Playboy, while Kelly takes her own daughters, Sea and Teddy, out to tell them the news. Teddy points out that the Playboy shoot is another opportunity for her mother to "show off her weirdness." LuAnn kicks off Fashion Week by hosting an event at Ungaro that all the Housewives attend except Bethenny and Ramona. LuAnn and Jill press Alex for gossip on Ramona's Labor Day party.

Cold Creek Manor SYFY 6:00 pm ET

Director Mike Figgis, who helmed the shattering "Leaving Las Vegas," veered badly off form with this 2003 clunker, an inept pseudothriller wherein a pair of generic yuppies (Dennis Quaid, Sharon Stone) and their children are terrorized by a redneck ex-con (Stephen Dorff) after they move into the run-down mansion where he used to live. Kristen Stewart ("Twilight"), Juliette Lewis and Christopher Plummer are among the gifted supporting players stranded up this "Creek" without a paddle.

The Bikini Shop SHO 6:15 pm ET

Man, when is Bruce Greenwood ("Star Trek") gonna learn that the beach is not his friend? More than two decades before playing a former surfing star in the hapless HBO flop "John From Cincinnati," Greenwood -- a terrific actor, let it be noted -- didn't fare much better in this crude, skin-sational 1986 comedy, in which he plays a beach bum who, with his uptight MBA brother (Michael David Wright), inherits their aunt's boardwalk bikini shop. The supporting cast includes former Washington, D.C., scandal queen Rita Jenrette.

NBA Basketball TNT 7:00 pm ET

A pair of games featuring teams fighting for their postseason lives make up this doubleheader, starting with this tilt in Miami between Dwyane Wade's Heat and Dwight Howard's Orlando Magic. At this writing, the Heat had the East's No. 7 seed, barely ahead of the Nos. 8 and 9 Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Bobcats. In the late contest, the New Orleans Hornets hope to move up from their No. 9 West seed in their road game against the Denver Nuggets.

Jeff (Joel McHale) unexpectedly takes an interest in his new pottery class and becomes very competitive after another student demonstrates natural talent. Pierce (Chevy Chase) takes Britta, Troy and Shirley (Gillian Jacobs, Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown) along for a ride at his boating class. Danny Pudi and Alison Brie also star in the new episode "Beginner Pottery."

My Darling Clementine TCM 8:00 pm ET

Director John Ford puts his own slant on this 1946 retelling of the famous OK Corral shootout. Henry Fonda stars as legendary Wyatt Earp, who arrives in town to find one of his beloved brothers murdered. Determined to seek justice, Earp becomes the marshal, deputizes his remaining siblings and awaits the Clanton gang. Victor Mature stars as Doc Holliday, and Cathy Downs co-stars as Clementine.

The Vampire Diaries CW 8:00 pm ET

Stefan (Paul Wesley) helps Bonnie and Elena (Katerina Graham, Nina Dobrev) out of a perilous situation. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) invites Anna (guest star Malese Jow) to a party in the woods, not realizing she has a sinister reason for accepting. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is stunned by what he discovers after he works with Elena, Stefan, Bonnie and Grams to open the tomb in "Fool Me Once."

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story FXEAST 8:00 pm ET

Often a supporting player, the talented John C. Reilly ("Chicago") is front and center in this amusing celebrity biography satire, co-written and co-produced by Judd Apatow ("Knocked Up"). His character is an unlikely music legend who indulges in every vice and cliche ever associated with that lifestyle. Jenna Fischer ("The Office"), "Saturday Night Live" alumnus Tim Meadows and some actual music icons (notably, the Temptations) are featured.

28 Days Later SYFY 8:30 pm ET

Just in case you were wondering, this is not a sequel to the "Sandra Bullock goes to rehab" movie. It's a very different animal indeed, and much better than any "28 Days" sequel we could imagine. Directed by Danny Boyle ("Trainspotting"), it's a 2002 thriller set in London in which a lab accident unleashes a virus that means death for countless people. The illness causes those infected to become angry enough to kill.

Supernatural CW 9:00 pm ET

Castiel (Misha Collins) helps Dean and Sam (Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki) track down Cupid (guest star Lex Medlin) after people start killing one another for love on Valentine's Day. When the god of love protests his innocence, however, they discover one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Famine (guest star James Otis), has come to town in "My Bloody Valentine."

Addison (Kate Walsh) has her hands full when two of Naomi's (Audra McDonald) former patients (Tessa Thompson, Robin Weigert) whose embryos were accidentally switched, as a complication puts both fetuses in jeopardy. Violet (Amy Brenneman) is on edge at the thought of facing Katie (Amanda Foreman) in court. Charlotte (KaDee Strickland) lobbies for a position at Oceanside in "Strange Bedfellows."
